Watt Meter Box
1, 2 or 3 Watt Meters
for standard electrical boxes

Don't operate your backup or alternative power electrical system blind!  Install this economical wattmeter kit so you can see what is happening.  Perfect for monitoring generator load when your transfer switch or panel does not have meters.

Kit includes pre-punched off-white nylon plate for mounting in any standard wall switch box.  Installer must provide plastic or metal 1, 2 or 3 gang switch box (for 1, 2 or 3 meter kit).  Meters sense the power using the included donut current transformer sensors (CTs).  Sensors are normally mounted behind meter in electrical box, but wires can be extended for remote transformer mounting. Meter scales read in Watts at 120VAC for each hot leg of power system.  Made in USA

For maximum meter life we do not recommend direct mounting on engine driven generators due to vibration.  Mount separately on an indoor wall.

Since these meters have no direct connection to the power system live conductors and operates at low voltage it is not UL Listed (and does not have to be).

UPDATE:
We now offer two donut sensor sizes. The smaller size with a 0.35" I.D. window fits inside the box with the meter and accommodates a single conductor. The larger sensor has a 0.53" I.D. window and is suitable for summing the current in TWO conductors. Due to its size it must be mounted remotely--typically in the nearby switch or load center enclosure. This sensor is useful if you want to sum the currents in the two hot legs of a generator to display total TOTAL load on one meter rather than displaying the separate load on each hot leg on two meters. Keep in mind that when summing the currents on a 120/240V single phase system the two wires must be passed through the sensor in opposite directions.
