Generator Enclosure

Complete enclosure for your
LARGE HIGH-CAPACITY portable generator
10,000 to 18,000 Watts

The new PowerShelter™ IV is designed to house your portable generator outdoors for both storage and operation.  This product has some unique features that are not offered by anyone else.  Overall dimensions are 112" L x 33" D x 34" H providing ample room for most LARGE portable generator sizes up to 18kW.  Extra high capacity dual cooling fans positioned on both the intake and outlet provide the enhanced cooling and circulation required by these large generators.  And the hoods come standard to reduce the possibility of rain entering the generator compartment due to the higher air velocity.

This is so much better than all those other schemes to protect your portable generator from bad weather, which is usually when you need it the most!  No more struggling with trying to adapt a garden shed, or making a special removable roof, or even attempting to use a tent.  The PowerShelter IV comes assembled ready to drop on your pad.  Just attach the two hoods, connect your wiring, and you are ready to generate electricity even in bad weather.

Design Features

  • Weather protected design for storage, maintenance and operation of generator
  • High temperature cutout provided to automatically shutdown generator if fan cooling is lost (reduces chance for engine damage or fire if fan is blocked or stops running)
  • Large ventilation openings to dissipate engine and exhaust heat
  • Enclosure made from non-flammable aluminum that will never rust
  • Vents equipped with screened louvers or hoods to keep out rain, birds, rodents and most insects
  • Suitable for air-cooled gasoline, diesel, natural gas or propane fueled gensets.  Call if your engine is liquid cooled (has a radiator).
  • Two high capacity fans to cool engine and alternator each rated 1/3hp 3.8A at 115V (running load 300-400 Watts each).
  • Can be used with recoil or electric start models
  • Fans powered from spare 120VAC outlets on generator
  • Comes with detailed assembly and installation instructions
  • Wire cage fan guards that meet OSHA requirements are provided inside enclosure to reduce possibility for personal injury due to moving fan blades
  • Sound attenuated version for noisy engines that significantly reduces sound levels by about 7 db(A).  Includes internal sound absorbing panels.
  • Mounts on a concrete pad (installer must provide mounting)
  • Universal exhaust adaptor and flex pipe included for strapping on muffler to redirect hot gasses out to fan
  • Large front door and top cover lift-up for easy access to generator

OTHER ADVANTAGES:
  • Two-point locking T-handle to keep your generator secure from theft
Storing your generator in this enclosure frees up storage space in your garage, shed or basement for other uses
  • Electrical plug connections to generator are made in a dry weather-protected environment which reduces shock hazards during bad weather

Makes it easier to startup and connect your generator during a power outage because it is always ready to go -- no dragging generator outside during the outage or bad weather to use it.

PowerShelter™ IV is currently shipping fully assembled and ready to drop on your pad.  (To save on freight costs the end hoods are packed inside and must be attached to ends of enclosure by installer.)

New improved paint process now uses high grade automotive finish.  The basic 38 named colors are mixed to match the RUST-OLEUM colors available in 12oz spray cans at most retailers.  This makes for easy availability of touch-up paint if it is ever necessary.  We also can match any paint sample color chip mailed to us or any of the thousands of PANTONE colors.  Paint finish is optional.  Paint finish is optional.

Electric connection is usually made using one of three methods (click thumbnails to enlarge):
  • direct burial of UF cable with conduit stub-up inside enclosure, terminating in junction box with SOOW pig-tail for plugging into generator outlet

  • mount weatherproof outlet on outside of enclosure with SOOW pig-tail inside for plugging into generator outlet

  • cut a notch in pad under front door and temporarily lay SOOW cord on ground through notch and plug into generator outlet
