Most of the cordsets and transfer switches and panels sold are set up for 4 pole twist lock plugs and receptacles such as NEMA types L1420 and L1430.  If you need to connect a 30A 120/240V generator to a 20A switch this adapter will do that.

CAUTION: Since the 30 Amp receptacle that you are plugging into with this adapter is most likely protected with a 30 Amp breaker, it will not provide the 20 Amp overcurrent protection for the downstream cable and devices. A downstream 20 Amp breaker should be used in the circuit, or other means should be used to ensure that total electrical loading does not exceed 20 Amps.
