Bergey 7,500W Wind Generator
with Battery Charge Control System
Bergey wind turbines are modern wind-driven generators which benefit from more than eighteen years of Bergey Windpower R&D, production, and the delivery of wind turbines to all fifty states in the USA and more than sixty countries around the world. They incorporate the latest technologies in aerodynamics, structures and electronic control systems. Made in USA.
The BWC EXCEL is a 10 kilowatt wind turbine designed to supply most of the electricity for an average total electric home in areas with an average wind speed of 12 mph (DOE Wind Class 3). In remote locations it can charge batteries for stand-alone applications or pump water electrically without the need for batteries. Simple and rugged, the BWC EXCEL is designed for high reliability, low maintenance, and automatic operation in adverse weather conditions. It is available in three versions.
- BWC EXCEL-S: a 240VAC, 60 Hz (50 Hz optional), single phase utility interconnect system. Includes a grid-tie inverter.
- BWC EXCEL-R: a 120VDC (240VDC and 48 VDC optional) remote battery charging system. Includes the VCS-10 Control System.
- BWC EXCEL-PD: a 3 phase AC system that can drive submersible or surface-mounted pumps. Includes the PCU-10 Control System.
The performance data shown in the two thumbnail images above have been compiled in accordance with industry standards as established by the American Wind Energy Association. The power curve is corrected to standard temperature and pressure. The estimated monthly energy output (kilowatt-hours) assumes the AWEA standard distribution of wind speeds.
DC cable length and voltage drop must be evaluated carefully when laying out system. Click here for our simple voltage drop calculator.
Utility Interconnect
The BWC EXCEL-R is for charging batteries in remote locations. The batteries can operate DC loads directly. With a stand-alone inverter, they can provide alternating current for AC appliances. All BWC turbines can be combined with photovoltaic (PV) cells or gas/diesel generators to satisfy specific power needs. Hybrid wind/PV systems are particularly attractive because the daily and seasonal outputs for each source tend to be complementary.
