Inverter/Charger UPS System
900 Watts

This is an alternative energy source for every situation.  Tripp Lite's versatile APS Series of high-efficiency DC to AC inverters offers an alternative source of affordable AC power in both off-grid and emergency situations.  An APS Series Automatic Power System can be used in a variety of ways  For a better understanding of this unique device see our comparison of the APS Series with traditional UPS Systems.

AS AN ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOURCE
Many remote locations and developing countries are not provided with reliable utility power.  In these areas, it is necessary to have a backup power system available to power AC electronics and appliances during blackouts.  When utility power is unavailable, the APS automatically senses the loss of power and switches to battery backup.  Users can supply as many batteries as needed to power critical equipment through extended blackouts.  Integrated battery chargers automatically bring batteries back up to full capacity when AC line power is restored.  APS systems are also the perfect complement to modern solar and wind powered energy home systems, as they are a reliable source of AC power when renewable sources become temporarily unavailable.

AS AN UNINTERRUPTIBLE POWER SUPPLY
Computer systems, telecom systems, security devices and non life-support emergency equipment (such as sump pumps and lighting) can be provided with extended-run UPS protection by way of this APS system.  Adjustable battery backup operation for locations prone to extended brownouts or overvoltages.  User supplied batteries and cabling make an APS a low cost, dependable UPS system.

DETAILED INVERTER DESCRIPTION
The inverter converts the DC battery power efficiently to AC at about 90% so you can get the most run time possible.  High short-term surge rating of 200% allows start up of electric motors and other heavy inductive loads.  User adjustable low and high voltage UPS transfer points.  Frequency controlled output using a modified sine wave is compatible with sensitive computer systems and electronics.  Front panel LEDs display complete status information including line power status, inverter operation, overload status and battery voltage level.

DETAILED CHARGER DESCRIPTION
Integral battery charger is an advanced 3-stage design.  It provides a fast and safe battery recharge and charge-maintenance.  It uses a bulk, absorption and float charging sequence.  Automatic overload protection prevents damage to inverter and charger in the unlikely event of system overload.  Charger is user selectable to provide correct voltages for either sealed gel cell or vented wet cell batteries.   Charge-only mode of operation available to override UPS transfer.

Designed with convenient remote connector for optional remote panel.

The APS series is warranted by Tripp Lite for a period of one year (domestic) or 120 days (export) from the date of original purchase.  Provided with complete instruction manual.  Not UL Listed.  Click here for a list of Tripp Lite literature and manuals for viewing online.

NOTES:
1) Select and size batteries based on your total expected load and run time.  Use one of the following two plots.  Read the number of Tripp Lite #98-121 gel cell batteries from the left plot, or if you plan on using other batteries read the required amp-hours from the right plot.

2) If you are purchasing batteries elsewhere, be sure to use only the proper types as described above.  We DO NOT recommend using standard vehicle starting batteries as these will wear out after only a small number of discharges.  Use only "deep cycle", marine or golf cart batteries.  To make your battery connections as safe and simple as possible order our universal battery cable set and fuse for this inverter, CABSET912.

3) This unit is not large enough to power most sump pumps.  Use one of our larger APS units such as the APS2012 or APS2424.   If you have a high efficiency sump pump motor the APS1024 may also have sufficient capacity.  Click here for some high efficiency sump pumps.  If interested in these request a quote by e-mail.
